About Kep Province:

Kep Province is surrounded by Kampot Province, but for 16km of coastline fronting the Bay of Thailand and Phu Quoc Island which is only 20km from the border with Vietnam.

Nearby a small archipelago is accessed which includes Koh Tumsay (Rabbit Island) boasting white sandy beaches that meet shallow seas perfect for swimming and snorkeling with waters are full of corals, a wide variety of sea animals and plants, which is 30 minutes away by local slow boat or 10 minutes by speed boat.

The National Park and Butterfly Farms also capture the beauty of nature as do the various pagodas dotted about, giving each visitor the chance to enjoy local culture.

From the beginning of the 20th Century through to the 1960s, the area was the premier beach town, attracting the rich and famous, later decimated in the 1970s/80s, so today you can see many abandoned post-colonial / modernist villas.

About Kampot

The population of Kampot City some 150km southwest of Phnom Penh has grown and now boasts a range of restaurants, hotels and other businesses due to its pretty rivers and mountain setting.

The peak season is November to April when tourist businesses open up along the paved river promenade near Old Market and in the old quarter which runs from New Bridge, past the Governor’s Residence to the Aquatic Center.

The old bridge located near the old quarter has various styles due a number of Khmer Rouge breaches and is now open to motorbikes only, providing a reference point by day and night.

It has some very picturesque sights attracting many local and foreign tourists on weekends and special festivals due and, being close to Phnom Penh, is perfect for a weekend getaway given the National Road 3 upgrade has made the journey a lot quicker than before.

The main industries in the region are salt/pepper production, fishing, fruit (esp. Durian), light industry and tourism and the province is being developed at a fast rate, which is pushing prices up considerably.

The region is hottest in April and coolest in December and the highest rainfall is in September and October, with the driest time January to March.

From Kep Cambodia website:

“…  a seaside town located on a group of hills going down to the beach.  Cambodian and Vietnamese islands are just offshore.

It’s a half hour drive from Kampot, Cambodia a half hour to the Vietnamese border; and 2 hours from SihanoukVille and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Bungalows, villas, guesthouses, and hotels are located on the hillside and the beaches.

Also, beach side bungalows on Rabbit Island

There’s not a whole lot [here] mostly a place for relaxation, enjoying fresh seafood, going for walks, trekking though the hills, boating, fishing and island trips, bicycling and mountain biking, sitting on the beach, and as a stopover on the way to or from Vietnam.

Plenty of garden style resorts around the beaches and mountains.  Most have swimming pools, air-con rooms, on-site restaurants, and are quite picturesque…”.

Access from Phnom Penh

Road 3 upgrade is now complete, so travel time from Phnom Penh is 2 hours, making this a perfect weekend destination with Kampot just over 30 mins away.

We invite you to consider this offer and grab it before it is too late as land values are rising steadily, so this price will not last for long.

Tourism Infrastructure

According to the Tourism Infrastructure Project, which aims to enhance (i) travel connections; (ii) product development; (iii) tourist safety; (iv) marketing; (v) the business environment; and (v) HR development, tourism to the region is expected to increase 500% by 2025.
