One of Phnom Penh’s most extraordinary apartments for rent has arrived — a fully renovated, architecturally striking four-bedroom residence spanning the third and fourth floors of a contemporary building in the heart of Riverside, Daun Penh.

From the moment you step inside, the sheer scale of the double-height living space stops you in your tracks. Soaring ceilings, industrial-chic steel columns, multiple ceiling fans, floor-to-ceiling glazing and a dramatic open-tread staircase combine to create a loft-style interior of rare ambition. A sprawling lounge and a substantial solid-timber dining table seat a crowd effortlessly, while the glass-enclosed kitchen — fitted with a large French-door refrigerator, gas hob, built-in oven, marble splashback and generous oak cabinetry — is a genuine pleasure to cook in. A dedicated laundry room and wine cooler complete the picture downstairs.

The upper level delivers a mezzanine study area with city views and direct access to four well-appointed bedrooms, each with hardwood floors, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and quality timber furnishings. The master suite is generous and serene, featuring a spectacular marble en-suite with double vanity, rainfall shower and teak shelving worthy of a five-star hotel. Three further bedrooms each have their own smart bathrooms finished in marble and warm timber. Two private balconies offer open views over Phnom Penh’s evolving skyline.

The apartment comes fully equipped — appliances, cookware, crockery, bedding — everything you need to simply move in and start living.

Central Market, the Old Market and the iconic riverside promenade are all within a short stroll. Lycée Descartes, Wat Phnom and the US Embassy are just 15 minutes on foot.

About nearby Independence Monument from Wikipedia:

“… Independence Monument was built in 1958 to memorialize Cambodia’s independence from France in 1953.

It stands on a roundabout in the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city.

It is in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa, of the style seen at the temple at Banteay Srei and other Khmer historical sites.

The Independence Monument was designed by the Cambodian architect Vann Molyvann, who was “personally selected and instructed” by Prince Norodom Sihanouk on how it should look like, combining ‘the religious and the secular’.

It stands 37 metres tall…”

Riverside, Daun Penh: the real downtown

Riverside, the real downtown is the old city – Wat Phnom, Old Market, Kandal Market and Chaktomuk.

Many generations’ footprints are here – Angkor kings, French colonists and UN troops.

It is where the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac rivers meet and where the Water Festival takes place each year.

Riverside is always stunning especially at sunrise and sunset. Day and night it is busy and a popular tourist spot.

Sisowath Quay (in honor of King Sisowath) is the riverfront road. It starts at the Buddhist Institute and continues north to Japanese Bridge.

There it becomes Road 6 and out of the city.

The area has a wide choice of restaurants, wellbeing services, hotels, shops and bars.

Among the restaurants, you will find Italian, French, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Malaysian.
