Development

In recent years, Pursat has attracted considerable attention by investors and large infrastructure projects have been completed or underway.

In September 2020 a 60-MW solar power station in the province was commissioned and connected to the national power grid. The following year, a 30-MW plant was completed by the same company Schneitec Renewable Co., Ltd. in Krokor District.

Further, in March 2023, the Pursat governor spelt out a government plan to create a new city in the Veal Veng District due to its favourable economy, trade, natural resources, and agriculture conditions.

The announcement of this urban plan comes as the Cambodian and Thai governments step up cooperation in preparation for the opening of the Thmor Da-Banthan Sen international border crossing.

According to Governor Khoy Rida, the border gate is expected to be officially opened soon and is expected to boost trade, investment, and tourism, as the two nations boost bilateral trade to $15B by the end of the year 2025.

In 2020, the Cambodian government inaugurated the 182km National Road 55 that connects Pursat City with the Cambodian-Thailand border.

My 2nd home program

Cambodia my 2nd home (CM2H) is an innovative initiative recently launched by KHCA (Khmer Home Charity Association) in association with the Ministry of Interior (MOI).

Its aim is to help foreign nationals enjoy a raft of measures to facilitate sustainable living and business in the Kingdom.

Benefits for participants in the program include a 10-year unlimited entry / exit visa.

After 5 years, they are eligible to apply for a Cambodian passport and can fully enjoy the advantages of the dynamic ASEAN network.
