bout Tuol (Toul) Svey Prey
Toul Svey Prey is bounded by the Olympic Stadium, Mao Tse Tung Boulevard, Monireth Boulevard and Street 199. Monireth and Mao Tse Tung Boulevards, especially at rush hour, can be congested.
It is an inner city locale with an urban atmosphere, close to everything and with a strong sense of community.
In the past, there wasn’t much to do here unless you want to drive, however this is changing and shops, cafes and eateries are popping up all the time.
About Chamkarmon
Chamkarmon has a range of things to do and see. It has great food spots and a healthy bar scene, places to stay and nooks to explore.
Bassac Lane and Russian Market attract mostly expats, whereas Boeung Trabek and Phsar Doeum Thkov are more popular with locals.
Located in the south of the CBD, this area is the Number One residential district with Tonle Bassac and BKK 1.
It appeals to expatriates and wealthy locals wishing to live, work and play in the city centre.
In Phnom Penh, Chamkarmon has attracted the most foreign investment in the housing sector.
It has the most apartments and condos for investors looking to rent to expats. Being central and close to most attractions, properties in Chamkarmon attract good returns.
Chamkarmon also has many high end hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars and shops with well known brands catering to expats and tourists.
Koh Pich (Diamond Island), a man made island facing the Mekong and Bassac rivers.
It is a commercial area with recreation facilities, exhibition centre, shops, offices, condos, hotels and more. AEON Mall and Naga World are both located in Chamkarmon, as are many international schools.
These include Northbridge, British International, Home of English, iCAN, ISPP and Zaman.

About BKK 3
Boeung Keng Kang 3, or more commonly known as BKK 3 is becoming increasingly popular. It is located in Khan Chamkarmon, a rising star in the centre of Phnom Penh.
It is one of the most sought after areas due to it being close to BKK 1, but without the price tag.
Due to lower rent prices, many expats choose this area however lower purchase prices are also attracting investors to purchase here.
BKK 3 has both modern and older, more traditional Khmer style properties. However, it is changing as more luxury residences and real estate projects spring up.
Sometimes known as the ‘yolk district’, it is close to a dozen embassies, many NGOS, schools, countless businesses and shops.
It is considered desirable by wealthy Cambodians and expatriates alike. BKK 3 has the best of traditional Khmer and modern living, yet is a quiet city locale.
BKK 3 is in close proximity to popular shopping areas, such as TTP (Toul Tom Pong or Russian Market) and Olympic Market, both of which have a wide selection of restaurants and cafes.
There are many local stores in BKK 3 selling clothes, fashion accessories, household goods, shoes and more.
With the number of educational facilities in the area, there are also many shops selling stationery, books, computers and so on.
Moving house?
Moving house – best you use a checklist as it can be a daunting task. Not only is it an emotional journey, but you’ll have reams of admin.
Here’s a checklist to help you tick off (and fill) your boxes!
Even before moving house, change your address
- Start doing this 30 days before the move. Sometimes a phone call will do, but often you may have to provide proof of the new address to certain institutions or go into the bank, your doctor, kid’s school or Sangkat to fill in forms, so giving yourself a head start will help to shorten your to-do list.
- In some cases you may be able to receive statements and accounts by email. This cuts down on paper wastage and ensures an easier address change process.
Some institutions you should notify, plus a few extra things
